Whereas mat-based Pilates consists of mainly bodyweight exercises, Reformer Pilates is practiced using a Reformer machine, which consists of a sliding carriage with tension springs, a foot bar, jump board and straps. By adding the Reformer into your practice, you allow for more versatility, as you can lie, sit and stand on the carriage, alongside adjusting the tension of the springs to different levels to best suit your ability.
Reformer Pilates has a huge variety of benefits, as it is a low-impact, but highly effective way of moving your body through a full range of motion. Regular practice can increase strength, flexibility, muscle tone and posture, alongside aiding in mental clarity and anxiety relief.

Not at all! At Reform Rituals, we believe that every body is a Pilates body. We strive to be an inclusive and safe space for everyone, no matter what. We only ask that you come as you are, with an open mind and heart.
All classes are suitable for people aged 16+, and our skilled instructors will give you a range of options and modifications throughout the class, enabling you to challenge yourself as much or as little as you wish. We offer beginner classes which are specifically tailored to people who have never used the Reformer before and those who would still like some practice before moving on to faster-paced classes.
If you have a pre-existing condition or injury, we ask that you notify your instructor before you begin the class, so relevant adjustments can be made to ensure you are safely getting the most out of your practice.
If you have any concerns at all, please feel free to contact us.

Well done for taking the first step to reform your rituals and choose a new healthy habit!
Here are some top tips to help you prepare for your first class...
Please be ready and arrive at the studio 5 minutes before your first class if you have never done Reformer Pilates before - this gives our instructors plenty of time to show you how to work the machines and for you to ask any questions.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can exercise in, alongside a pair of grippy socks, as these are a strict requirement for health and safety reasons. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pair already - these are available to purchase in the studio!
Make sure you’re well hydrated and bring a bottle of water along - if you need to buy some, you can do this in the studio. We also have facilities to refill your bottle if you prefer.

Lateness
We require all clients who are new to Reformer Pilates to arrive and be ready 5 minutes before the class start time, so our instructors can show you how the Reformer machine works. Failure to do so may result in you being denied entry to the class, and will be classed as a no-show with no refund or return of class credits.
We operate a zero tolerance policy for lateness, and the doors will be locked promptly at the class start time. If you are not in the studio by the allocated class start time, this will result in the forfeiture of the class with no access to a refund or return of class credits.
Cancellations / No Shows
We understand that plans can change, and you are able to cancel your booking a up to 12 hours before the class start time by doing so on the booking system.
Cancellations after the 12 hour cancellation window are ineligible for a refund or class credits. The same applies for no-shows.
Our cancellation & lateness policy is to be strictly adhered to at all times, to ensure the safety of all clients and to prevent injury, as well as avoiding disruption of classes.

Reformer Pilates offers numerous benefits for pre and post pregnancy. Some research suggests that regular Reformer Pilates practice can help during pregnancy, labour and postpartum due to an increase in flexibility, mobility and enhanced pelvic floor health.
There will be some exercises that are unsuitable depending on your trimester and individual requirements, so we always recommend listening to your body and notifying your instructor of your pregnancy ahead of your class, so the relevant adjustments can be made.
We strongly advise consulting with your professional healthcare provider before starting or continuing Reformer Pilates practice during and after pregnancy.
